Just like that, Fall is in the air! This has been such a crazy year - I swear it's still June - where have all the months gone??? Our area has been covered in a smoky haze for a week now, and my daughter has started her Christmas countdown! I'm SO behind...
But Autumn waits for no one, and I wanted to share what's trending right now for this new season (still in denial!).
This year it's all about neutrals and soft tones.
I've never been a fan of just neutrals, but I'm really digging the color scheme right now! Perhaps it's because of how chaotic this year has been, these soft colors bring much needed mental calm and peace.
Don't these pumpkins look so cozy and squishable? Makes me want to light a fire in my fireplace!
You'll see it in fashion as well as in the home. Neutrals galore at Fall Fashion Week 2020!
Here's some inspiration of beautifully designed neutral spaces, notice the texture in the screen from Serena & Lily that adds so much warmth to the space in this first shot:
This modern rustic bedroom from Lulu & Georgia reminds me of lake houses I've stayed in, reading a book in autumn while watching the rain fall:
A warm grey on the walls and a soft green on the ottomans are enough to make this room super inviting on a chilly fall day:
Even though this room is quite minimalist in design, the warmth of the beams with the various textures throughout - from the dried pampas grass to the chunky knit throw - make this a cozy fall room to spend cool weekend mornings with a hot beverage:
Ah, the chunky sweater throw! This one is courtesy of Pottery Barn. Who can resist snuggling in one of these? The golden dried flower arrangement by the window radiates with the dwindling hours of sun left in the autumn months!
And now some realistic, down to earth inspiration you can add to your home without breaking the bank:
Incorporate wood rounds into your table settings, or displays on your kitchen island or tables. The warm colors and rough texture of the bark immediately says "Fall". This one is from World Market:
Here's another clever idea for your wood round: paint it with chalkboard paint (or flat black paint), and write a cheery greeting to prop in your foyer or on your mantle:
If you're lucky enough to have a bunch of wood slices available, use them as placemats! Instant "Fall-ification"!
Many people put wreaths on their front door in Autumn, here's one that's right on trend with dry florals and in neutral tones from Kirkland's:
How about adding one or two throw pillows? These hues from Pottery Barn are subtle enough that you can keep them out year round - great investment!
Here's another idea from Pottery Barn - light, chunky throws in soft palette:
Of course we can't leave out the fun Fall pillows! Here's one from Kirkland's:
I'm a lover of all things shiny, so the soft gold brushstrokes on this simple glass pumpkin candle holder from Pottery Barn caught my eye immediately:
And finally my absolute favorite addition to the home just in time for the Fall entertaining season - the bar! This versatile version is from Pottery Barn, but you can dedicate just about any flat surface in your home to the bar:
This feature has been gaining speed ever since Mad Men debuted in 2007 (can you believe it's been that long?!) Home bars are more popular than ever right now, why not add one to your home?
There you have it! Some neutral Fall inspiration for your home! I hope this post created some calm in your world and inspired you to bring in some subtle neutrals into your home this season.
